Here I go again

(summer skies last year in the Algarve - I'm running out of pictures)

Sorry for stealing your blog title, Cathy, but that's me when it comes to dreams. The power of our minds amazes me. We dream about someone and that changes completly the way we look and think of them. If it's an unpleasant dream, it can make it difficult to be with that person on the same day - they haven't got a clue but we're secretly hating or fearing them or being merely uncomfortable because of a simple dream.
On the other hand, if it's a good dream we might start looking at that person in a different way, feeling things we never felt before and, still, that person just has no idea of what they did to you during the night...The next day, everything gets back to normal (unless it was a particularly significant dream) and we usually get on with our lives, oblivious of the previous dreams...until the next one comes along.
Tonight I dreamt of someone I hadn't thought about for a long time: it felt like everything got new colours, things gained new meanings, what was forgotten came to life leading to a simple "What if?". All because of a pretty innocent dream. Tomorrow it'll all be forgotten. That's why I raise a question: was there a point in that dream? What was my unconscious trying to say to me? I'm not very psychoanalytic but I do believe it must have some meaning. I didn't really pay much attention to this particular dream but sometimes I'd like to know what were the hidden messages.

I often wish that I could interpret dreams, but I usually can't remember what I've dreamt when I wake up. The bext dream I've recently had was a rather sexual one (shhh) with the lead singer of the Bare Naked Ladies...interpret that one!)

Do you remember your dreams often?

Oddly, I seem to guest star in other people's dreams. They tell me so. "You were in my dream last night, you were eating ice cream..." I rarely remember my own. Is it because I am absent from my own, off in someone else's?

Cathy: I promise I won't tell anyone ;) Sometimes we just need to escape in your dreams, that must've been it. But, tell me, after that dream when you looked at that guy again, wasn't it really odd? :)

Stephanie: I don't remember my dreams everyday. I think it's easier when you sleep more because you tend to dream more. Maybe you are too busy in other people's dreams ;)

Christopher: Sure! I've changed my link already :)

Connie: That's a shame - the only reason I like my dreams is because (and when) they are nice and pleasant. Having bad dreams is not the escape people are looking for. In that case, I'd be a chicken too (usually I am, anyway). :)

Madelyn: exactly! But why? It puzzles me.

Day: That's a beautiful dream :) There should be a mother ship like that for girls. And it's great that she told you that too.

I rarely remember my dreams, but would like to remember them more so that I can try to interpret them, using cheesy internet sites which say things like, 'Cat: mystical creature indicating that you will soon take a trip over water.' That kind of thing, very scientific! ;-)

And I like your photo...the chimneys are the best part of the Algarve, in my humble opinion.

I know a lot of Freuds theories were partially discredited even despite modern ways of thinking but I think (and I may be corrected) he says dreams in some way all include eros and ethos or as I remember it sex and death.

When you think about any dream it is difficult to prove him wrong though it sometimes takes a little imagination to work them out.

Kimananda: We're the only people that can interpret our own dreams because we're the only ones that know what's going on inside. I think when we need the dreams to tell us something, they'll show up and repeat themselves until we get it. The chimneys are the most typical thing about Algarve and what makes a difference from all the other holiday resorts.

Esuoh: Maybe Freud was a little extreme in the concepts he used but I agree that all dreams are about either desires (in his terms, sex) or fears and worries (death). And people can interpret them if they think about it a little.

sometimes i dream that M has been unfaithful or has lied to me (he never has poor soul) and i wake up totally insane and don't want to talk to him for hours and hours.
Analyze this.

Chloe: See? Our dreams can control us, the damned things ;) That's a terrible dream to have and very unpleasant for both of you. But the advantage in that is that you can say, with the greatest happiness, it was just a bad dream :)
