Sunday Scribblings - Passion

Who could resist a prompt like this one?

There are a million things I could say about Passion, I could stay and write a lengthy post that would take all weekend.

Instead I decided to do something completely different. I scribbled a sort-of-poem. I'm very uneasy about this. Poetry is not my thing. I don't read much of it and the last time I wrote any must've been at school. So be gentle, if you please. I just realized how hard it is, especially when English is not your native language. But at the moment there was no other way of my approaching passion.

There is a spark,
a flicker awaiting a little wave
it rests quietly, patiently secure
a breath of air will come and ignite it soon.
Lips blow a kiss, tiniest of movements
the flicker turns to flame
knowingly determined.
The deed is done
combustion befalls,
unquenchable, insuppressible
fire.

  2. it's a beautiful poem. Coming from someone who says it's not his thing, this is excellent. Maybe the passion within you caused this to come together :) - yep - that's it! :)

  9. o you are a beautiful soul, you are. That poem embodies you! Or do you embody the poem..? What are you up to this weekend? Hopefully it enjoys being outside :)

  10. Your description of the point of inspiration is good..in some ways you describe in real time the dawning of an idea or the start of a new love...but it can also be viewed as a slow motion video of the moment when passion is ignited. You've see those movies which show you what happens when you introduce oxygen into a room where a fire is burning..suddenly it explodes in a blinding light of heat and fire?...it's exciting and inspiring the way you have written this.Sometimes the spark is part of the everyday conveyances of information along a nerve synapse...but sometimes it's the start of a revolution...Vive la revolution!

    PS...you should write more poetry

  11. there's a line from a campfire song which comes to mind....

it only takes a spark to keep the fire burning......

well done! i have attempted writing poetry over the course of my blogging life....and always feels the same as you. but, i think it's a good feeling because it tells me i'm challenged. discomfort is a signal that we are stretching in areas of new learning....yeah!

poetry is passionate. that's the nature of it. plus, i think writing a poem touches on our vulnerable side.....

good on ya to put your thoughts out there.....to try something new for you.

may our passions always push us on our journey.

  16. You captured the beginning of passion so well there. And if you're not an experienced poet, (can that really be true?) you did very well to resist the temptation to say too much! I like this a lot.

  17. Thank you Jane!

Lucy: it feels a bit like stepping into quick sand, doesn't it? hehe

UL: You're welcome anytime. Yes, I imagine it provokes some thought. After all, it is a passionate subject!

Thinking Aloud: I think that's it exactly.

Dharmabum: Yes, you did. Aren't we the crazy ones? hehehe

Chrispito: Oh thanks :) Passion probably embodied whoever, whichever...lalala.
Well, we've had sun during the week but rain now, so I'm staying in, I'm afraid.

Niall: Cheers! hehe It's in there somewhere, what I meant. It begins as something tiny yet powerful and then it explodes - BOOOM!! :)

Awareness: That's so true! I did feel challenged and uneasy, but that's what made me so happy in the end. Your last line is exactly what I think. Thanks :)

Fearfullymade: Thank you. I'm happy you liked it!

Gautami: I will try to write more often seeing as I don't suck that much ;) thanks!

Paisley: Your rephrasing was really great too!

Greenishlady: Oh thank you! I thought it was best to keep it simple, but it's true, there was a lot more I could/wanted to say. Best keep it like this :)

  25. a flicker awaiting a little wave

    i love this so!

    ....you have captured for
    me the sense of the
    sparkle before the
    flame...such a glorious
    sense of ...anticipation
    or nervousness or an unsettled
    sort of moment...

    beautiful and evocative ...
you need to write LOTS of
    poetry now:)

    well scorpio's tend to be
    passionate after all

  26. Just lovely. I'm not as poetry person either but like you I do have a go now and then. However, you have the added hurdle of English being your second language.I can't use that excuse!

Great job , I hope these comments inspire you to do more

  27. You’re too modest. This was very nicely done.

  28. That was really beautiful. Never be hesitant to write poetry again! I do know the feeling, though. I rarely attempt to write meaningful poetry. I tend to lean more to the silly side. lol Thanks for having the courage to share this. It really is wonderful -- and passionate! ;o)

Appreciate you stopping by today and your words of encouragement!

  29. Patois: thank you and thanks for visiting. I will try.

Maddie: I'm so glad you liked it, I had a feeling you would, as you're the poetic-gal. ;) It's exactly that: an "unsettled sort of moment", it's going to happen but not yet. Thanks!!

Keith: Thank you. I think the comments will definitely encourage me :) And I hope you keep doing it too, forget about the hurdles!

Jill: I'm not modest anymore. The comments were very encouraging, yours too!

Heather: Oh, that's another way to go. Silly poetry may be "silly" but it's as valuable as the serious one, I think. Keep trying and I will too. Thanks for visiting.
