"it's the economy, stupid"

This isn't a post about the financial crisis.

No, I lied. It is, in a way, but in a good way.

As you might recall, I have an Etsy shop and if you know how Etsy works, you know the only currency used there is the US dollar. In the meantime I live my life and pay my bills with Euros, naturally. Well, for a long time after the Euro was created one euro and one dollar were more less even. Until the dollar dropped dramatically this year meaning that, in my store, to get a fair value in Euros I had to ask for a lot more dollars.

A graphic from http://www.taprofessional.com/ showing the evolution of the USD - Euro ratings this Summer.

But this Summer the dollar has recovered some of its value and if that is bad news for some things, it is GREAT NEWS for my store and for buyers. I am now able to review all my prices and come out with excellent price reductions. This isn't a sale, it's a permanent reduction (as long as the dollar-euro ratings allow me to) and some things that cost 40$ dollars now cost 30$.

In the meantime, I've been doing a million and one things including preparing the new season - Autumn. I'll have a few new things in the store soon. It's easy to get lost when I'm trying to juggle so many different balls in the air but I like the variety and it prevents me from getting tired of doing only one thing.

Fashion week

I had a few models coming to my house for a fashion shooting (shooting? how dangerous). Yes, it was fabulous!

Strike a pose, girl!

Some were a little shy.

Some came in black and white (did you know there were black and white models? ;)

Others just peeked and looked beautiful.
As you can gather, the inspiration for blogging isn't very abundant, since marketing has been taking a lot of my time. But rest assured I will be back, with or without Californian Senator's accent.

Dame

Say hello to the Dame of Scarves:

Hello all

Just a quick post to tell you we're half-way through our sales at Junegardens.etsy.com. The discounts are really good, so I hear.

This one reminds me of a raspberry sorbet. I still haven't posted it on Etsy but I will tomorrow.

This one has the added bonus of this moon to carry around on the tip of the scarf. Quite lush :)

Just in case you are tired of scarves, here's this lovely sunset for you.

Ever seen a fish-fillet the shape of Portugal?

I have the pleasure to announce my ETSY SUMMER SALE! Yes, capitals an' all. Since it's Summer and it's (suposedly) hot I'm having a 25% discount cut off from my prices. Yes, it's a very nice discount.

So if you want to get pretty...

Scarf doesn't necessarily mean Winter. I'm working on this one right now, it shall be called Arabian Nights. This one, the Pink Delight and the Angel Wing scarves are all made in a light as a feather material and are perfect for Summer evenings or Autumn days. Promise!

angel wing

It looks celestial, doesn't it?

Speaking of which, Celeste is such a nice name...

I made two different neckpieces with this yarn but I'm keeping one for myself because I love it so much. It's funny because I made dozens of scarves in the last two years and yet I always wear ones bought in stores and given to me as gifts. There's an adage in portuguese that says: em casa de ferreiro, espeto de pau.

The pictured neckpiece is on my Etsy story. I think I can part with it, but only just ;)...

Good things in pairs

If you look at the sidebar on the right, you'll notice a link to an Etsy Shop. It's MY Etsy Shop. You didn't see that one coming, did you? ;)

It all happened when my birds flew away. As you know, I'm a Sagittarius and you've probably seen the symbol for this sign - it's a centaur (half-man, half-horse) holding an arch and aiming high. Well, last week I felt like I had lost my arch and arrows. I wasn't aiming at anything and it was driving me insane. I was just a horse. And worse, I had a human heart and brain. Gah. So I thought: well, perhaps I should take myself to a mental institution...OR (it occured to me) I could start an Etsy Shop! lol

And the store was born. It is a collaboration with my mother, so we're selling things we both make. My speciality is the knitting department. My mother's more versatile and also makes jewelry and fox terrier booties. The store hasn't got many items yet but we'll be adding more gradually. It's been keeping me busy!

As I was saying to PS the other day, good news usually come in pairs, so I'll leave you, not only with the Etsy store, but also with my playlist. It's a small selection of the songs that have been part of my days lately. You can launch it [pop-up player] and listen to it while you're online doing whatever you have to do. I can't listen to it in a row because I get too unsettled. lol But I hope you enjoy it.
