I might as well share it

In my previous post, Stephanie asked me if I had done the Myers & Briggs test and I hadn't, so I had to find out what it was all about.
In a few words, it's a personality test that believes that human behaviour is classifiable and that people are predisposed to certain personality characteristics.
They defined four pairs of alternatives to define a personality type:
a) Extrovert vs. Introvert
b) Sensing vs. Intuitive
c) Thinking vs. Feeling
d) Judging vs. Perceiving

I did my test here because it's free, but it's not the original, I believe. My result was INFJ, meaning a conjunction of Introvert-Intuitive-Feeling-Judging. They call people like me "the Authors" and WE are only 1% of the population. They described me as complex personality (tell me something new!), a private person, easily hurt, willing to help others. "Distress within close relationships can shatter the INFJ." - that's so true.
The more I read it, the more true it sounds. This is a great test, go and do it!
And they also give you a list of jobs that are good for you - I loved that!! Mine included psychologist, librarian, poet/writer, research, translator ...

Oh great, you did it!
I'll think about that possibility: the "cure" through poetry :)
I think most people enjoy taking about themselves, it's no disease. But those are nice characteristics!

I just took the test and got ENXP--and in the process proved a friend of mine wrong who thought I would be a different combination...she was guessing what I was over dinner...

...I am not surprised at all that your results were rare, as you are a rare gem!

ISTJ ~ "The Trustee"

According to this, I'm likely to become a bank manager or an accountant. Whoopee. -_-

Love your template by the way.

Novel Nymph: You're making me blush, I am an introvert, be aware! lol What's the X? Thinking or Feeling? I think we're total opposites, that's funny!

Eric: Thanks :) Those jobs aren't very exciting but they mean you're trustworthy, right? You're stable. And they also say anyone can do any kind of job, of course, it's just a question of will.

I am INFP :)

Though your guess was good, because the f-t is the only one I'm anywhere close to the middle (I am 100% N)

"Questor" These people are idealistic, self-sacrificing, and somewhat cool or reserved. They are very family and home oriented, but don't relax well. High capacity for caring. High sense of honor derived from internal values. 1% of the total population.

I know you have to take some things and leave others from a test like this, but the same part of me which is interested in astrology likes these too.

This is kind of neat too:

(and is actually why I'd brought this up on your previous post - I'd guessed :)

hey,

not sure if there is a standard website or anything, but i found this link -

http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp

and i think i'l take the test n let u know - tho i am sure i'll be in one of the most 'commonplace' categories- i think its what i like most, being unnoticed ;o)

dharmabum said...

oh, so silly of me - i didn't notice the link u gave :( (i think maybe coz of the text size - it makes it a lil un-readable!)

anyways, mine is ISTP - i took the test thru both the links and ended up with similar results :)

Day: Yes, neat! But also scary when we don't exactly enjoy some of our traits! :P

Stephanie: Wow,100% Intuitive! :) You rock! heheh I see you're quite unique as well! These tests are great if they help, especially in our quest to understand who we are. Will get back to you on that link.

Ps: I wonder if your results changed over time...they probably did!

Dharmabum: I know, the font of this template is really petite! :) It's great that your results are similar in both tests, they must be accurate. I'll try that link too, and I like to go unnoticed as well, that's why I'm an I ;)

If I recall correctly, I am INTP, and not near to the center on any of them! I remember feeling quite vindicated somehow when I did this...I was a teenager, and finding out that only a percent or two of the population was 'like me' on this quiz was very validating...sort of a 'see, I am different!'

I may take the time to do this one again...they say that scores do change over time...though I took it again sometime in my late 20's, and was still the same....

Kim: I'm sure my result would be different if I had done it 5-6 years ago. I think we're all becoming more 'ourselves' as years go by. I'm sorry I haven't e-mailed you yet, your last e-mail was too complex :)

i'm an infp. the percentage of the population that we make up is up for debate. i've read anywhere from 0.5 to 4%. Jung was an infp! career choices for infp's:
Writers
Counselors / Social Workers
Teachers / Professors
Psychologists
Psychiatrists
Musicians
Clergy / Religious Workers

most of the introverts/idealists make up a very small percentage of the population. as an infj, you are a counselor idealist. i am a healer idealist. they are quite similar.

Devil Mood said...

Vesper: yes, it's similar. Actually, when I did the test in another link, I was an infp - I'm there in the middle when it comes to judging-perceiving.
Aren't we nice? :) lol
