Ringside - Tired Of Being Sorry

I'm posting this video to illustrate what I've come to realize my idea of love and relationships is: a fight, a war. I know it shouldn't be that way, I know relationships can be about sharing and having a good time, but I can't take things too lightly.
Relationships to me are a constant and intense struggle for power - but that's how I like them, that's how they change me and make me evolve into my own self. It isn't easy, I must say and knowing this it only makes me less willing to begin any, because I know how much energy it will take from me. But I have to accept it and give it more chances. Maybe they'll lead to a happy ending like this one :)

In astrological terms this happens when you have Venus in Scorpio. Funnily enough, the director of this video (Joaquin Phoenix!) has that placement too and he translated that into this video really well.

I loved the video, and the song. This guy (Joaquin--whoever he is--hadn't heard of him till now!)is brilliant.I suppose all of us sub consciously play these 'power games' in relationships.I know I do.I hate to become emotionally dependent on ANYBODY--even if he is the one I love.Like William Henley says in 'Invictus'--"I am the master of my fate.I am the captain of my soul"
And yes, relationships can have happy endings--but every relationship is constantly evolving, simply because we ourselves are constantly changing. You are not the person you were yesterday, when you think about it.

I had a conversation this morning, and said that I think that if you are not able to have an argument with someone it shows that you either do not care about the person, or that there is an imbalance in the relationship like you cannot argue with them becasue you are afraid to...

..you have to be able to fight the good fight in a relationship--how else do you make up?!

relationships are so tricky...power, control....

i used to get hurt so easily... worried about his approval...wanted to be loved sooo badly...lost who i was trying to be who i thought he wanted..

he has a very strong personality...
controlling...

lots of fights...after about 10 years...

learned to stand up for myself...set boundaries..

alot learned in 21 years

So sad, so true and so beautiful..I actually had a tear in my eye at the end. Anything that is worth anything in this life involves a struggle..a death of something be it pride or misconceptions.

Came by again to see if you have a new post and also to "pull" your tag!! I still love it and it continues to amuse me!

Sophie: It's a sweet fight and a different video, I like it :)

PS: I know what you mean. I guess we're all playing power games is relationships but while some people just give themselves completely, others prefer to control. It's tougher when both want to control lol...
And feel free to come by anytime and pull the tab as much as you want - I don't think it'll break :)

Novel Nymph: I think you're right about that. There's also a certain point in people's relationships that people give up fighting, because they're too tired, or they think it won't do them no good...but that's sad too...because the fight is a sign of the energy between them.

Holychaos: Wow, 21 years, I can imagine there must be a lot of learnt lessons. But you were very young so it's natural that you didn't know how to protect yourself. That's the bright side of ageing - a lot of wisdom :)

Niall: I'm glad you liked it, emotions show us we're so alive :) And what you said is not just philosophical but also brilliant, really!

you're right about what you said tp novel nymph. i was heard that the opposite of love is not hate but apathy... not caring at all

I like this debate we're having, Natalie :)
That's it, apathy = very dangerous!

i think we all look for relationships simply because we need a 'parking lot' for all our insecurities. i think we are afraid of being alone and seek a certain sense of 'security' in and through all our relationships.

u like relationships being a struggle for power? wow, haven't heard that before! and it also makes me a lil scared of u :)

Devil Mood said...

Dharmabum: Don't be scared of me - there's no need, honestly. I wouldn't hurt a fly ;)
That's really interesting what you say about the parking lot, sounds true and it will make me think for a while!

not to butt in, but i totally agree with holy chaos.. hate is something you can anticipate..apathy often can tear you apart from within, dont you think ?

Devil Mood said...

Roshan R: Butt in! And thanks for visiting. I agree, apathy is also hopelessness and there's nothing worse for the soul...
