This afternoon I looked out of the window and saw a colourful bird (a real one, made with flesh, bones and feathers!) in a balcony near mine. I'm not an expert but it looked like a lovebird (like the ones of the image). It was singing a little and obviously not where it should be - ditch the metaphors now, this type of bird belongs in a cage!
I tried to attract it with grapes and leaving the windows open because I know it won't survive out there in the open, but no success. Now it's raining a fair bit and the bird is nowhere to be seen. I'm worried because the probability of it finding its way home seems close to zero. If someone doesn't catch it, that's it.
Poor birdie :(
And how odd that the bird looked like the imaginary birds I was writing about previously. Be careful with the metaphors you use.
On other notes, I have a spanish neighbour. Enough said. No, seriously, he's loud. He lives alone but he makes a lot of noise, he's always whistling and listening to REM. And he sings too.

I hope the poor bird gets found.
argh. As much as I'm against the concept of caging birds (which I thot was a crazy idea in your previous post) I think that lil birdie would've been better off and survived if it weren't in the wild. Awww, I hope that lil thing is still out there and chirping away :)
Now hold on Ms. Mood (there it is again...thank you Kimananda)! Perhaps you might write this bird’s story just a bit differently! Like this, maybe: the birds that were released from the cage in your head flew to Señor Loudmouth’s house to release his REM-weary, sleep-deprived lovebird, and the REM-bird, in gratitude, allowed you to catch a glimpse of him in remembrance of your birds prior to taking flight with them to Madeira where they will all live happily ever after… Or better yet: the bird who was singing a bit on the adjacent balcony was indeed one of the birds from the cage in your head and he was appointed by all the others to show you that he and all the birds are fine, in good health, and doing the usual bird things. And by not coming to you, he was showing you that the birds have served you well for the time that you needed them and that they needed you, and now it was time to bid a fond farewell. They left you so suddenly, you see, no time to let you know, and the emissary bird kissed you goodbye from afar with his song lest you try to contain him and resume your old ways.
Hmm? Yes? ;-)
the bird was singing.
the spanish neighrour is singing.
they are a good match why don't you introduce them to each other? is he so horrid? REM are ok no?
What a coincidence--This morning I too found a very different kind of bird outside my window and wondered what it was.
The pic you have posted here is so delightful.
Can't you talk to your neighbour?Maybe he does not realise it. (I once did to nosiy neighbours--they apologised and cut down the noise)
I once lived with a man who kept a lovebird. It had been found on a boat in the harbour. No one could figure out where it came from! But it survived. They love being in pairs, those two. Either they squawk when alone or the sing when they're together!
Dr.John - I hope it was found, it's rained so much since then that it'd be impossible for it to survive.
Miss Iyer: Yesterday, I had to accept that there was nothing I could do to save it. Bah :/
MissAlister: YES! I love those explanations! Especially the second one, it's so sweet :) Ok, have some more anti-acid ;)
I want to think that there was a meaning in that sighting and that seems like the most likely one. hehe thanks!
Chloe: REM are okay but he was listening to the same song over and over. When I first saw the bird it was on his balcony, so maybe it was there to meet the spanish singer.
PS: I live in a building where you hear everything. If I decided to complain, I wouldn't know where to start and it would be unfair lol
Chrispito: Yes, that's what I thought when I saw it. It should have a mate somewhere. perhaps it was left in their cage. But they are cute!
I hope he has some natural instincts left, to find a way to not drown in this rain, it's raining so much it's scary.
horrible day for a lovebird to be out...
Perhaps the little love bird has flown into your neighbour's house and is busy learning 'Losing My Religion'..or 'Shiny Happy People'!..now you must listen to see if your neighbour learns to whistle!...
I should also keep an eye out for 'Squeak'..what ever happened to him?
Violet: You're right, the weather has been awful for a domestic bird to be out homeless. The poor thing...
Niall: Oh squeak! Where is it? Never heard from the fellow again! Perhaps it was the bird I saw? Oh no, I remember squeak's picture.
Unfortunately the neighbour already whistles but if I hear a bird singing REM, I'll know!
