Politics suck sometimes

It's a sad day for Portugal. Well, okay, not for everyone but for me, certainly. For the first time in over 30 years a center-right President was elected. And it is even more frustrating as he was competing against 5 leftist candidates! - how many left ideals can there be? Why couldn't they agree on one or two candidates? Now we have to put up with that man who totally lacks ideas, charisma, anything you want on a politician. I'm just glad the President doesn't have a very active role in our society, it'd be a real chaos.

Our election day is tomorrow and I am so fearful, so very fearful. Pray for Canada!

sometimes you need people to be boring and mundane to make rational thought through decisions. I have no idea about the political climate in Portugal but if things aren't right now why not see how it goes from a different perspective, you can always vote him out again in a year or two. How much damage can he do if he has little imapct on society

Cathy: I will pray for Canada. I prayed for the U.S. a couple of years ago but sadly it didn't go so well. But with Canada is a different story :)

Valerene: Of course, being leftie isn't necessarily a good thing and being rightie isn't always bad. In this case, the man isn't even one thing or another, he's a centrist so maybe we needed something different.

Esuoh: the trouble is he'll be president for the next 5 years, that is if he doesn't get elected a second time, which is very likely cause portuguese people don't seem to like changes - well, no one does, really. He prabably won't have much impact, as long as he lets the government do its job. The funny (or terrible) thing is the man was our prime minister ten years ago for 8 years and people want to go back to that! :P Where are you from?

Im British. We have had Tony Blair for years and lets be honest nothing has changed except the world view of us is now as cowards and America's lap dog.

Politics suck; and don't listen to what the American media says about Canada; this will be a temporary government...we will not go the way of the U.S.

Esuoh: yes, on that department I wouldn't be very satisfied if I were british either.

Cathy: don't worry, I don't listen to U.s. media at all. ;) That's good news anyway!

Valerene: that should be natural but ironically the portuguese media can be anti-portugal :P

LadyMiss: I take it you're from Canada...;) Don't worry, you'll get back on track, I'm sure :)
