I open my heart to you

It's true, I admit it...I'm having a blogger's block. I just never know what to write and feel like I have nothing to say. Confronted with this problem today, I asked myself: what do I want to say to those people who read my blog?
That's an issue altogether...is the blog written for you or is it written for myself?
At the moment, I can't give you a straight answer to this question. I thought I wanted to write for myself when I first started this, but it's hard to follow that path all the time.
I'm currently working on my seminar on blogging, so I'm thinking of you a lot (don't feel so full of yourselves! ;) and considering all these points of view.

It's almost May: some things are about to end and others to start. There's never an ending without a start, it's unbelievable.
I've been feeling a little strange, a little disoriented. I think I've daydreamed too much during my free time (it is essential for my mental health but not in excess). All I feel like saying is:

"Where is my John Wayne?
Where is my prairie song?
Where is my happy ending?
Where have all the cowboys gone?"
Paula Cole
(I've never been a fan of cowboys but it's a metaphor...Sometimes I wonder where they are...)

'...is the blog written for you or is it written for myself?'

Yes. Exactly. And that's what makes it so strange. At least for me, I write things that I think will amuse me, and hopefully others, or things that I think will interest others, and hopefully me...but as it is individually written, and as it is more openly read, can it ever be just for the writer (in which case why not just keep entries as word files?) or just for the audience (in which case why not make it into an online magazine or something?) I don't think it can.

Now if only I could keep a train of thought going that long for my paper on blogging...! ;-)

Kimananda: I totally agree with you. The blog can't be just one thing or the other...Deep down there's always an audience. He he it's harder to think when working ;)

I think I do both.

I understand about the blogger's block. I suffer from it too from time to time. Maybe you're just out there living, and looking at things, and having experiences, and thinking about things you're going to tell us about later.

It's because the football season's ending but have no fear the World Cup starts in June!

Stephanie's right...

Liverpool won! Luis Garcia infuriates for the whole of the first half and then scores the most ridiculously good half volley...

Tonight is Champignons League hopefully Sol Campbell can hold it together for Arsenal tonight...

I don't blog as often why? I'm not so sure but I'm still out there reading, looking, listening and thinking...

Day: I guess that's normal, but we can't pretend that there isn't an audience ;)

Stephanie: I will be doing that but it isn't very productive when I'm always doing the same things...But it can be, I suppose.

FB: I can't wait for the World Cup. The worst part is I'll have lots of things to work on but I'm sure I'll manage to watch the games, no matter what happens...
The Champignons league seems to be going well and Luis Garcia did a wonderful goal, no doubt. (OMG, my Dad it telling me Villareal missed a penalty...!!)

I know I started the blog because there were things I wanted to write. I still do sometimes. But at other times I write because I think you all might enjoy it. Or you may wonder at something. Or I'd just really like to tell you..

I'd probably write more, and write freer, if I didn't have any readers, but I wouldn't be enjoying myself half as much, would I...

Scholiast: That's so true - it's fun to tell stories to people. And if we want to write for ourselves, we'll get a notebook :)

i've been having blogger's block myself so instead i indulge in photography.

who is the blog written for? very good question. i for one write for myself & who it's secretly intended for. sometimes i do run into the dilemma of wondering if what i post fits into people's image of me and then i try to not let that stop me from posting something that seems unlike me because it is me.

anyhow, i wish you inspiration to overcome the block :)

Lorena: Thank you, I hope I can overcome the block ;) Photographs are a good escape because they can tell more than a 1000 words, as people say. I think you should post what feels right for you and I'm sure people will appreciate it much more this way...

I think a lot of people are suffering from blogger's block ... I have read of it quite often lately. Personally, I don't really know what to write at the moment, either, other then commentary on photos, or info on places I love. Nothing really intelligent is coming out of me, otherwise !!
I'm sure it will pass. Give it time, don't stress.
Take care, Meow

write for yourself and love your own words

Meow: I guess it's natural to have a blockage once in a while. It's hard being a blogger ;) I think what you write is good; I don't think anyone expects you to come up with a philosophical theory on your blog (not you nor anyone...)

Steve: Good advice! I'll try...
