I'm back

A cup of tea and some knitting ... I'm not very far from an old lady...

Part of my afternoon was spent knitting a scarf and listening to a couple of tapes from an Astrology master. You don't usually think of knitting in the Spring but my Mum bought me some yarns and I had to start - it's addictive. On the other hand, Astrology is the closest to psychology you can get without feeling bored - it speaks of harmony, blockages, balances, structures, etc. It also has a little touch of magic, to make it more interesting. And it's a very profound thing if you care to investigate - obviously this isn't particularly clear in that crap that appears in magazines.
I've been re-discovering Tori Amos in that past few days. "Little Earthquakes" is a masterpiece. It's probably my favourite album of all time. It's so deep and serious, I've never listened to something that spoke of identity and growing up this way. Most albums are about love and relationships, but this one goes a lot beyond that. (Here she is below!)

The rest of my weekend was spent making jelly, reading italian magazines in the sun (outloud so I can understand it better), rescuing cats from the top of trees, watching Porto get one step closer to the title (win over Sporting), watching Donnie Darko, which I hadn't before, thinking too much, and reading. This week I'm off work so...watch out!

Yay! Another knitter. I'm going to try to by more year-round about it, because I'm relatively new to it, and am tired of having to re-learn everything each fall. I was a bit under the weather this weekend, and so managed to watch a lot of baseball on TV.

Hey, I've just re-started knitting as well! You should post a photo of your scarf when it's done.

And that Tori Amos cd is one of my all-time favorites. You have good taste. :-)

Connie: Thanks, I'm very musical this week indeed :) And I love dancing!

Stephanie: Coincidentally, yesterday they played Lost in Translation on tv again and I remembered you and your scarf. I hadn't knitted for years but I didn't forget it (perhaps because I use the easiest technique). I hope you're feeling more cheerful now.

Kimananda: I'll post a picture if my cameras don't mess up with me. I'm sick of not being able to get the photos into the computer. You have good taste too :)

Devil Mood;
Your weekend sounds great; very relaxing! Mine was spent at children's parties...no relaxation there!

Cathy: yes, I can imagine - the yelling, the screaming...but it also makes you appreciate the relaxation a lot more :)

okay here's a sad story...
about my mom - bit contentious
things all my life between us..
i learned how to knit last year...
made her a beautiful scarf with
re-cycled sari silk - (uneven,
first project but pretty)
and gave it to her for
christmas - she called me
last week and said
"remember that pink thing
you made me?....
i unravelled it and re-did it
and now it looks gorgeous-
i pearled it - you really need to
learn that stitch....."

oh brother......

love your pretty little pix!

Chloe: It was one of the stray cats that live in my building. He was running away from a dog. Poor cat!

Maddy: Moms are a little overcritical when they know more about something than we do. But they just want us to do better, I guess. But it was really nice what you did :)
