Lake and a perspective

Since I can't show the card, here's a photo of Lake Michigan with dunes and everything :) lovely!

I got a postcard from DaybyDay today :) I'd love to post a picture but now not even my lame camera is working so...no photos for you, unfortunately. I'm getting tired of this photo-less situation...The postcard shows the lakes of Michigan that look really amazing. I've never been next to a big lake, it's a little mysterious, I like that.

As you know, this week I'm not working so I've been able to take it easy and sleep a lot. I'm reading a book about male friendship (or so it says in the cover), called "White City Blue" by Tim Lott. I'm still in the beginning so I'm not sure this will teach me anything significant (this should be the main rule when choosing books to read). Some people compare this writer to Nick Hornby but that's perhaps because they're both male, in their late thirties, forties, living in London and writing about "blokes" and their lives. We'll see...

This last few days have been particularly important for me in terms of understanding how I function. I don't really care to elaborate at the moment but time does give you some perspective on the past. When, a few years ago, I was holding to a hopeless crush with all my strength, there was a song that I kept singing that said "someday we'll know why I wasn't meant for you". At the time, I thought someday I'd know but I didn't believe it; I thought "this is just unfair and there's no possible explanation for my unhappiness!". But now I look back and I get it - I know why it didn't work, why it wasn't meant to be and even why I couldn't let go of that tiny bit of hope, despite knowing that it was impossible to come true. (Ughh...I hate sounding so melodramatic!)

Day is right. You always tend to bump into someone when you're eyes are closed.
The surprise meetings are the best kind.

Daybyday: The mail services are exquisite over here ;) I might have already found it, I'm not sure...

Cathy: Thanks, same to you :)

Chris: Yes, I think so too, no expectations...

Meow: Same to you, over there. Enjoy it!

Hey, I gotta get me into that postcard thing as well. I'll send you my addy if you send me yours. :-) And I promise to send you a postcard before my month in Lisbon (yes, it's definite, just wanted to shout it out, as I'm so excited!)

And do let us know about the book. I don't really get male friendships, though I suspect that there's not really that much to 'get'.

but i don't
you are so mature, so evolved.
i admire you for looking back and making sense of things. xxx

Kimananda: Yay, a month! Sure, send me your address to my e-mail. I'll make you a homemade card, since you already know Porto.
I'm getting a little concerned about the male friendship now because the character in the book is not very sure if he likes his friends or not.

Chloe: Oh woman, only you to make me blush like that ;) I think too much so there has to be a direct result.
