S.João

Over here, every town has a popular saint - don't ask me how they came up with that - which means there are street parties everywhere for one night. Tomorrow's the popular saint of Porto, São João (saint John, in his universal name), so the party is tonight. It means a lot of fireworks, sardines, popular songs, bonfires...
It's actually quite nice, especially if you've never experienced it before. I think I'll be going to a party but I won't dance around because my back is killing me. Anyway, I'm not really in the mood, feeling very reflective today.
Heard some disturbing news this week: Top of the Pops is ending. That's a real shame - I have very nice teenage memories of TOTP and it's a classic - things like that should never end.

But the big question is how many people you plan to hit over the head with a plastic hammer? Or is that just a myth spread by Lisboetans to taint the good name of the people of your fine city?

Hope it is a wonderful party, and I hope your back gets better soon.
Have a great weekend.
Take care, Meow

Kimananda: lol That's true for some people, but actually there were no hammers in my party. But there were a lot of paper balloons - it's beautiful to throw them in the air :) But you wouldn't imagine how cold it was yesterday!

Meow: It wasn't too bad. Thanks! Have a great weekend yourself :)

Maddy: The sardines were good yesterday. I'd send you some but it's a little difficult ;) I have grown up on top of the pops too...like many people, it's a shame!

Cathy: Trips make people think sometimes ;) I'm feeling better today, thanks!
