The rain came back strongly today. Perfect for this post.
This weekend I watched most of the Top 50 of Heartbreaking songs on Vh1. It was foggy and grey outside and there was nothing better to do. It was very entertaining, but afterwards I thought - I can do better than that!
So I browsed through my CDs and made my own top 10. No favourites, just sad songs - the sadder the better haha
Or...you could say I was bored!
My top 10:
10. Ray Charles - You don't know me Afraid and shy, I let my chance go by, The chance that you might love me too
9. Feist - Let it die - The tragedy starts from the very first spark, Losing your mind for the sake of your heart
8. The Cranberries - I still do - I don't want to leave you, even though I have to, I don't want to love you. Oh I still do.
7. Tori Amos - China - In your eyes I saw a future together, but you just look away in the distance.
6. Amy Winehouse - Love is a losing game - One I wish I never played, Oh, what a mess we made And now the final frame, Love is a losing game
5. Fiona Apple - Love Ridden - No, not 'baby' anymore, if I need you I'll just use your simple name. Only kisses on the cheek from now on and, in a little while, we'll only have to wave.
4. Vaya con Dios - What's a woman - All those dreams from the past, faded so fast, ghosts of the past, when love was to last. All alone, in the dark, she will swear 'cross my heart, never again'.
3. Janis Joplin - A woman left lonely - And when she gets lonely, she's thinking of her man, she knows he's taking her for granted and she just don't understand.
2. Stina Nordenstam - His song (or any other of her songs, for that matter) I know that I cannot have you, I know that you will never be mine, I know that and that's why I chose you 'cause this is real life.
1. Lamb - Zero There's no one here today, cause someone took the light away. There's nothing in my heart. Don't think I could even start to explain. I can't stand the pain of losing something so much a part of me...
I feel like I forgot a million songs.
If you're interested this was VH1's top 10:
10 - Justin Timberlake - Cry me a River
9 - Whitney Houston - I will always love you
8 - Rainbow - Since you've been gone
7 - Mariah Carey - Without You
6 - Roxette - It must've been love
5 - Bill Medley - We've lost that lovin' feelin'
4 - Celine Dion - All by myself
3 - R.E.M. - Everybody Hurts
3 - R.E.M. - Everybody Hurts
2 - Bill Withers - Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
1 - Sinead O'Connor - Nothing compares to you
Oops, Valentine's day tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be back with a happier post.

the saddest song to me is by Dan Fogelberg "Same Auld Lang Syne" here's the link:http://www.danfogelberg.com/lyricsinnocent.html
reminds me so much of my high school sweet heart...
In your top ten, havent heard most. But I intend asking a firend who is a usic buff to send these songs.Considering that your ideas and tastes are very similer to mine, i'm sure i'll like them too.
In the second list i ahve heard most., I like sinead o conner,REM,Roxette, mariah carey, whitney houston..Mostly I look for meanings in the lyrics.
Your top 10 list is interesting ... I have heard of some of them, others not.
The other list I know them all.
Please send some of your rain our way ... we could really use it.
Hope you are well.
Happy Valentines Day.
Take care, Meow
Natalie: The lyrics are so beautiful, I'm all emotional! Need to listen to the song right now!
PS: Don't listen to all of them at once, or you'll need a box of tissues. heheh I look for the meaning of the lyrics too, most of the times.
Meow: The rain has been sent, I hope, since it's sunny here again today. The weather is so crazy, isn't it? Have a great week!
I am currently playing Top 5 albums I would take with me on a desert island, so far I have:
Trouble in Shangri-La by Stevie Nicks
Lipslide (the Japanese export) by Sarah Cracknell
Scarlet's Walk by Tori Amos
What would you have?
