This week's prompt is all about the novelty: new year, new life, new resolutions.
Normally, I don't pay much attention to the New Year. What is that after all? A new calendar you have to get, a new diary to fill with appointments and such, a new number to put on the date, 2008.
But this year I feel it differently. I'm excited! There's a new freshness in every day. New things are happening, I have new ideas, new sensations...I crave the newness in everything, I want what is different.
Do you feel the same?
Personally, nothing is more novel than my new astrology site, launched only yesterday. Two or three months of gestation, of constantly thinking and wondering and creating, hardly makes it as expected as a baby, but it is a newborn nonetheless. I love it already because it's my creation, because I've spent a lot of time working on it, thinking about it, creating expectations, just like you do with babies. I want to take care of it, be patient with it and share it with the world, with the right amount of pride and humbleness.
There was a time when resolutions made sense. They still do, if you're determined enough. Knowing myself as I do now, I know it's not for me. Just like Novel Nymph was saying the other day: resolutions are made every day and can be made every day. You don't need a new year to start acting differently, to set your sights on something you want and go get it. Plus, since my will is changeable and unstable, it wouldn't be honest of me to make resolutions for a whole year.
One important thing about the New: don't forget the Old, the dear, the ones you already know and love and that you want to keep indefinitely.

I like your way of thinking and yes a new year always makes me think of new and exciting things to come.
One can make resolutions every day but it takes discipline to succeed. I admired you for starting a new project - your astrology site - so soon - me? I probably have to take more time just to start something.
I hope you have much success for the new year. Enjoy!
Yes. Yes, I feel exactly the same way.
good luck with the new site.. I will go check it out.
Enthusiasm is a good resolution, I think. Headed over to your new site - I've been doing astrology for quite a while and find it fascinating!
I'm feeling it too, new is in, adore you 'new baby'! Thanks for visiting!
Yes. I am feeling it, too. I have never had such a passion about the New Year before. Basically, it's just a new date and new calendar year. However, it's also an opportunity to give myself permission to start something new, to change myself, to improve my relationships.
Lissa: Well, I took my time too. Sometimes new year resolutions come from way behind, the old year :) And when the new year comes, you just launch them into space.
Just Jinny: Oh great!
Lucy: Thank you, I appreciate that a lot.
Tumblewords: I'm glad you think so too. It's a whole new perspective, isn't it?
Redness: Oh thank you!
Shari: Absolutely, I agree. What is it with this new year and the excitement? Is there something in the air?
devil, i DO feel it...newness...however I also just took out a bunch of super old letters/photos/journals and enjoyed that, too. I do it about every 2 years or so. To keep track of progress?
Mostly because of the inner work I'm doing with past stuff, so it's great to make connections. I'm so grateful to have a written record.
There's a lyric by one of my favourite rock bands (Rush) in song called 'New World Man'..the line goes: "Constant change is here to stay". I believe we are constantly changing and I agree with Novel Nymph that each day brings opportunity for renewal.Your words here are full of newness and optimism..onwards and upwards!!
Very wonderful way of thinking, and yes we cannot forget the old, as we embrace the new. Good luck with your website.
This is my first time doing SS:

Congratulations on your newborn website. I've been trying to birth my business for about 2 years now, so I know how exciting (and time consuming!) it can be. I agree that resolutions can be made every day, but I like the fact that the new year prompts so many people to examine their lives and look at what they want out of the next 12 months of their life. It may be a meaningless calendar, but the self examination that comes with it can be truly meaningful.
Sorry but it just feels like another day. Maybe when spring comes I feel different.
A new astrology site! Wo ho! Am gonna go check it out! :)
oh what's new??
everything.
and nothing. lol.
my mind is new and fresh so that makes everything feel new and fresh.

I love the new site. I will have to keep up on it. I too have new feelings about going into 2008 that never seemed to be there in the past years. Have a great 2008.
Good for you for following your dreams.
Chrispito: I understand. I've been talking to Violet about that, about writing and keeping progress of now and looking back and understanding how and why things happened. It's an important work! :)
Niall: I was feeling completely renewed when I wrote this post, absolutely :)
Sassy Lucy: Thank you. I have paid you a visit.
Beautiful Witch: I agree! This year this "useless" calendar transition made me feel renew and hopeful and I agree that reassessing our lives at that point can be fundamental. Hope your business is going well.
Day: I hope so; hope you feel better soon.
Miss Iyer: :) hehe
Mahima: Yes, that's where it all starts! A great starting point :)
Tonguetiedmuse: Oh thank you, I really appreciate that. :) Have a great 2008 yourself!
Robin: That's true. Thanks for dropping by.
I love a new year!
It feels clean and fresh-like a new notebook or journal.
I feel the same way about resolutions and new year.
All my wishes for your baby to grow BIG.Really big.
Holy chaos: Oh I love those clean fresh notebooks :)))
PS: Thank you, I really appreciate that.

Hello, Devil Mood. I haven't been thinking much newness in my personal life, I'm afraid, but I have been at work, for sure. Cool post!
Thanks Littlewing :)
Sleekpelt: My new theory is that work is good. It's a good thing, believe me :)
