and then they were 600...

600 posts! Yes. Unbelievable, huh? Especially considering most of them came with a few words included, which is remarkable when I find myself with so little to say at times.

So what's the secret for keeping a blog for almost 3 years with 600 posts? There's no secret, but a lack of anything better to do. My blog is like a living room that's all mine. Most of the times it's a quiet place, other times some great music is played. The decoration is to my taste but I've had friends giving me some pieces (e.g. the banner that Chloe made me, it's like a painting in the wall). As you can see the floor is wooden, I really like the colour.

In my living room, I want to make people comfortable. I tell them stories and try to be creative, especially when the weekend comes and there is a prompt in the air. I try to make this room all about me, it's mine after all, but I appreciate my visitors a lot too, so I try to give them a little something to take with them.

I created a connection with the people that come into my living room. There were times when they left and never came back and I was left in the sofa sulking a little. These visitors are just like real friends (they are real friends, that's not what I mean)...so as real friendships go, some of these relationships fade when they're not taken care of. I realized recently that I can't be sad about it anymore, I have to make the most of the present. It's still odd to me how some people would disappear and never come back again after sitting next to me on my living room for so long. We talked, we laughed and we shared things. It's not about the fact that people have other things to do (everybody does), it's a certain carelessness too. But that's how it goes, people!

I'm sitting here in my non-virtual living room watching the horizon. There a few clouds of all shapes and colours peeking at me and I'm watching planes lifting off in the distance. My head has been in the clouds so much these days, perhaps the airplanes have taken my mind with them. I can't stop associating it with that song I mentioned the other day: Pajaros en la cabeza. There's a funny line in the song that says: "The mother continued serving the soup: when will you settle your head? One day we'll open it and bunches of parrots will escape from inside."

If they open my head one day, a Zoo will come out.

Congratulations! You have created a very cozy, dare I say hyggelig, place...especially the couch, though at this point, once I sit down in a couch like that, it's a bit tough to get out! So, you'll be seeing me around for a while. :-)

So often, communication feels like a bunch of people waiting for their turn to speak.

I like that we get to come into your living room and hear everything you have to say without interruption. We can read, ponder, and reply.

If only "real" life was like that :)

I never thought of it as a floor now I'm floating on the ceiling looking at the floor!

I like the fact that I can drop in and talk football amongst other things...

Kim: Hey you taught me a new word, hyggelig. I think it's very appropriate and very danish, how lovely. No need to rush up from the couch. ;)

Stephanie: You can interrupt me if you like too, I don't know exactly how that would go but it'd be fine :)

FB: It can be the ceiling if you like! Or the wall...I associate it a little with the wooden floors that go into the beaches, can't remember the english word for that. Feel free to speak up whenever you like.

Congrats on the milestone, Devil Mood. At this point, can you see yourself ever not blogging? I'm about to hit 300 myself, and it seems strange to me to think that I could make it to 3,000 within a decade, but I think the idea of not blogging at all seems even weirder. Have you ever considered if you'll still be blogging 20 years from now?

You’ve outdone yourself here in my book. Your word usage is meaty, delicious, meaningful. The comparison of your blog being like a living room, describing it as a cozy house, wanting to make people comfortable (and that is what you do, it’s your forte), giving your visitors something to take with them (oh and you do that so well, too, in addition to information, you give a joyful, genuine connection that is addictive!), ooh and the loss of friends, so sad...and the last paragraph is positively dreamy-good.
Man, Devil Mood, you were in a particularly inspirational place with this one! You must’ve snagged it from the ether where Joe Satriani gets his good stuff! ;-)
Happy 600 btw!

Wow! I'm happy for you... and here's to 600 more. The power of self-publishing is wonderful.

Os meus comentários são uma pobreza ;) mas o teu blog é um sítio onde venho diariamente há 3 anos, o que tem de querer dizer alguma coisa.

Fantástica, a última frase deste post ;)

Sleekpelt: That's exactly how I feel! I can imagine stopping the blog, but thinking of blogging in a few years time seems unlikely as well. I guess we thought of blogging as an experiment at first, then it became an habit. Who knows if in ten years time blogging won't be as normal as reading the paper to a great deal of the population? Perhaps it's more than an experiment.

Missalister: Oh you're such a sweetheart! thanks so much!! I think I was inspired by the view, I don't usually write in the living room (the real one). This only makes sense when what I write has some effect on other people, I can see that now :D

SusieJ: Thanks! It's true, gives us a significant power, doesn't it?

Cat: Os vícios são assim ;) Quem diria que isto ia durar tanto tempo? Tens que ouvir esta música, vais gostar :)

PS: Thanks! It's our living room!

Vesper de Vil: :) thanks so much. I'm very inspired by you and your blog makes me say things I normally wouldn't lol

Miss Iyer: Little by little the number grows and 600 appears. Time flies! Thank you.

Dharmabum: Oh thank you for visiting :) And I think your posts are most of the times deeper and harder to write than mine, so what matters is quality not quantity ;)

How very moving!!..blogging is so much a part of my life and what I do..it's integral to who I am..and so are the friendships that have arisen out of it..distance and never having met are no obstacle for those in my virtual living room ...

you have put it so well DM. And your last words regarding parrots and a whole zoo from witin in your head is very memorable...very pictoral!
