monday ponderings

I've always wanted to post music in my blog but I never knew how to do it, until I found e-snips. I could always post youtube videos and that's what I've been doing so far, but my favourite songs often don't have videos, at least not official ones.

This is one of my current favourites and I suspect it's also a candidate to an all time Hall of Fame. It starts with a beautiful piano piece by Chopin and then there's that cello. This melody makes my heart sing, I can actually picture my little heart dancing when I listen to this.

As time goes by and my blogger personality develops (as well as my general personality) I'm amazed at how accurate my choice of nickname was. In that odd June day (2005) when I decided to start a blog, I had to come up with a nickname, I did it impulsively and without giving it much thought. I forgot all about past nicknames because I wanted something new and I remembered this song that I really liked. I typed devil mood and, by God, I never imagined it would I would be so associated to it, both by other bloggers and by myself. In time I started reacting to the nickname, just like pets learn to pay attention when you call them. Believe me it's awkward that when someone writes "devil", your attention is gripped. lol

But it's the other section of the name that I'm most identifying with. I don't think I was conscious of being so moody back in 2005. Perhaps I wasn't (neither conscious nor moody). Perhaps instead of the nickname becoming me, it was me who turned into my name (that's a crazy idea!). Anyway, it couldn't have been a better choice because if there's someone that's moody and prone to living the highs and lows of moodiness that's me (but I'm not bipolar, fyi).

And now I'm leaving you with a small Bjork quote that endeared me:

Love is a two way dream

That was lovely. Some blogs have music on their sidebar but I have no idea how that is done. I like Devil Mood, suits you...ciao

I only know the two Pink Martini songs on Morir de Amor, but they are both so entrancing, and so different, yet at the same time both characterize a mood so well. You've reminded me again that I need to find out more about them. And yes, I've always liked your 'stage name'. :-) It's good to know how to put music into a post...videos are nice and all, but even nicer sometimes is to let the music inspire it's own interior experience, with individual images, memories, etc.

I will have to listen to that track when I get home from work. I can bet it's good as you have good taste.

I've always thought Devil Mood was a great blog name. I sometimes wish I'd adopted some kind of nick name. It would stop me getting into trouble if nothing else!

Rositta: I wanted to put mine on the sidebar but the gadget was too big for the bar. I'm not an expert on these things neither. But if you go to esnips, you can search for music you like and then copy the link into your posts.

Dharma: Hey Bum :))

Kim: That's the best thing about Pink Martini - how versatile and diversified their music is. They sing in tons of languages...
Yes, of course, music is always better when we make our own mental scenarios :)

Christopher: lol that's true. I really needed a different name to keep this as private as possible. But your original name has character.

extremely awesome! and did you know that your name would sorta-kinda inspire another blogger's "last name"????? and thanks for the esnips!!! i was actively looking for a site that makes it easy to share music on blogs.

Oh, cool - both the music & your blog name :) I actually upload tracks to another blogger service & paste the code over. It's kind of a hassle, but who would've thought sharing music would be such a challenge?

Hi, Devil Mood. It's a beautiful song. FYI, you can also use Odeo.com to share music in a similar way, if you're not finding what you're looking for on eSnips. Speaking of music, would you be interested in guest hosting Friday Music next week? No pressure if you don't want to, but the offer is there!

This is a truely stiring piece DEVIL...My mind is imediatly reminded of a scene in a movie where (it could be you) the young woman is dancing barefoot in a bar somewhere..late at night..alone...the heat and the hour mean no one takes any notice..you sway to undulating rhythms....dim lights ..echoing footsteps in the narrow cobbled streets...each footstep is an expression of longing ..a soulful rendition of desire...

:-)

That music puts me in the mood.

Btw pink martini, pink this, pink that. Did you notice there was a pink moon tonight? IT'S PINK! Kinda like that Nick Drake song. I know I'm on the other side of the world, but it would be cool if you saw it over there too...

Devil Mood is a fantastic name!

I LOVE that Bjork quote - so true :-D

Hi, Devil Mood. Friday Music works like this -- next Thursday (week from today), I'll post it up on my blog with a theme. You're welcome to choose the theme yourself; just let me know what. Then when everyone posts their suggestions, you just listen to each and respond however you like. That's it! Think about a theme!

Vesper: No, that I really didn't expect but it's definitely awesome :D

Brocasarea: hehe that's true! Your name is also very appropriate to that subject - are you an expert on neurology or the physiology of the brain?

Stephanie: Suddenly I admire your music posting so much more! hehe Keep it up!

Sleekpelt: Like I said, it's an enourmous honour!! :) And thanks for that odeon link.

Niall: Wow, that's so beautiful! I bet that was placed in Buenos Aires ;) heheeh

Electric Orchid Hunter: Ok, starting to feel the pressure now!! I hope I'll be a good host. It's exciting.

Sir Barrett: Yes, it would be really cool. I've thought of that: people that are far away but with eyes glued to the same object. The sky was clouded last night, so I can't swear it wasn't pink but it's a little unlikely seeing as our nights are separated by a few hours. I envy your pink moon though :)

Miladysa: Oh thanks :)

Sleekpelt: Oh it's only next week? oof, ok! Sounds great, I can't wait!

Brocasarea: But I bet both are included in your studies at some point.

Stephanie: Of course!

Totally suits you Devil! :) Oh and that is such a strong quote, as small as it may be!

Miss Iyer: That's what I thought, it's so tiny but great!
