I lay my head on your shoulder and close my eyes for a second. The sound of the TV fills the room gradually. I feel your hand searching for mine at the top of my leg. I open my eyes and find my fingers intertwined with yours. You gaze at the TV for a moment before turning slightly to look into my eyes. There is a remnant of shyness that makes you look away again and curl the corners of your mouth. My lips immitate yours as a reflex. I grip your hand tighter and focus on the screen.
A song is being played by a live orchestra and the shots alternate with images of a city. I'm distracted by the people and the buildings being shown. A woman is singing. Suddenly you begin to sing along and I look at you in bewilderment. This time you don't shy away and you smile. You like the song. My amazement is replaced by a critical voice that tells me I'm naive to be surprised. A voice that reminds me of the amount of things I don't know about you, reminds me that we were born worlds apart, that we bring two completely different stories into our relationship.
It's a voice that reminds me why every day spent next to you is full of surprises and why, for the rest of our time together, something unexpected may always crop up. Because we're estranged, we're not meant to be. We were thrown into each other's path by something other than logic, something that would defy normal rules of destiny, if such a thing existed.
And, instead of worrying me, this fact gives me hope, it fills me with faith in the both of us. It ensures me that we are special. This time I'm fearless.

That is lovely and with many layers. Actually, I feel the urge to write a post full of ugly shallowness in order to counterbalance it. This will serve to set this post apart even more. It's the kind of post that makes one wonder how much of it is from life, however.
lovely insightful story
Alive and real.
Is this not the story of all relationships. There are always surprises. We are not the same person but that doesn't matter because something brings us together.
To commit to anything fully requires a large measure of fearlessness. You have expressed it well.
this is sweet
Expressing ones's emotions don't come easily. You have written so well here.
Relationships are always filled with storied, the ones we weave around each other.
i can not believe this to be fiction Devil! I think it is a loving recount of an intimate wonderful moment. It is truly fearless to take on a new relationship, and bravery CAN be rewarding.
great post!
That's some mushy stuff, there, Devil Mood! Maybe Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio could pull it off. But I dunno...I felt the need for counterbalance, like Kimananda, and 10mg of Famotidine ;-)
Excellent story. We can never know what we're getting into.
You have brilliantly captured the most vulnerable part of any relationship.
Kim: The greatest things in life can only happen when there is a balance in everything else. So go ahead and counterbalance it :)
Crafty: Thank you.
Elspeth: Alive, I like that word. Thanks!
Dr.John that's true! We're never the same person, even if our backgrounds are very similar.
Granny Smith: Thank you. That's also true!
My backyard: Thanks :)
Prats: Oh I really like what you say there!
Lucy: hehe thank you! So glad you enjoyed it!
Missalister: Where is your romanticism, woman?!
Anthony: No, it's a step into darkness. :)
SusieJ: Thank you! I never thought about it but it may well be the most sensitive part...
would love to know who this is about! :)
lovely.
That was amazing, I wish I could write like that.
Sensitively portrayed!
shapely ghosts
Fearless, indeed! Nicely done!
This is gorgeous Devil..such passion and depth...a lovely mixture of the ordinary and the star flung rush of love.
I really enjoyed reading these post and look forward to further scribbles :-D
Aw, Devil, I’m just sore about a few things romance-wise, know what I mean? Truth is...well, who WOULDN'T want a taste of that crazy-in-love exhilaration? ;-)
what a very beautiful piece.
There is always hope and a whole lot of work in a relationship. I enjoyed this!
what a slice of romantic love! great image to support such sweet words of fancy.
very sweet, and so true, we never really know do we.
How very beautifully told. A lovely snippet of your relationship.
o devil. that's so, so...ahhhhh. My Venus/Neptune luvres it. thank you! (and on another note, spring is here! yay yay yay!)
Faith is the right word for it. You take a leap, hold hands, and hope. Beautifully written -- thanks for posting this.
I did like this a lot. I was a hopeful moment I think. We need more of that.

How much of life is a great risk...but to avoid pain is to miss out on loving altogether. You've expressed it well.
you have completely put me in a trance with this. there are pockets of memories that you have an uncanny ability to refresh. with your images and words.
