angel wing

It looks celestial, doesn't it?

Speaking of which, Celeste is such a nice name...

I made two different neckpieces with this yarn but I'm keeping one for myself because I love it so much. It's funny because I made dozens of scarves in the last two years and yet I always wear ones bought in stores and given to me as gifts. There's an adage in portuguese that says: em casa de ferreiro, espeto de pau.

The pictured neckpiece is on my Etsy story. I think I can part with it, but only just ;)...

That is gorgeous, looks really soft. I just started a scarf but I think it's a gift for someone special. I am working on a shawl for me though of beautiful soft Alpaca. I may even finish it this year, lol...ciao

wow! i love it! what kind of wool is that? is it mohair? I hope not, I'm allergic to mohair :( which makes me very annoyed!
What does that Portugese saying mean?

What a beautiful piece of work! People can’t resist that sort of thing. Heck, even a tightwad like me may not be able to! You just keep it up ;-) I think you’re in the right biz.

Now what’s this? In house of blacksmith, wood skewer? Wha…? Oh! Like you don’t wear your own work, the blacksmith who works with metal all day doesn’t make tools for his own house? Anyway, I’m with chrispito, wanting to find out what the exact translation is! You really are a devil, you know? So often leaving us in suspense these days! ;-)
(but I have to admit it’s fun!)

Rositta: Thank you. hehe If we're doing something for ourselves it can take a little bit longer, right? The trouble is when it took so long you can't stand to look at the piece anymore!!

Chrispito: No, it's not mohair. It's synthetic (polyamide and polyester). Mohair stings a little. Thankfully MissAlister translated it for me (the only reason I didn't is because I couldn't find the right words). The meaning behind it is that usually when someone's an expert at their work (be it a doctor, a cook, or a worksmith) they probably neglect that expertise at home. So in the case of the adage, the worksmith works with metal but at home he only had a woodstick. lol

MissAlister: aww thanks :) And thank you so much for translating it for me, that's exactly right and you interpreted it perfectly too :) Also I wrote this post in a hurry because my laptop battery was running out. I know I'm devilish lol

miss iyer: I'm so selfish hahahah :)

dr.John, I hope you're right about that. Thanks!

Kim: I'm just like an old lady, aren't I? I knit scarves and say proverbs lol

I know EXACTLY what you mean about not letting go of something..it's like your own child when you have invested so much energy and creation.your work here is so lovely..it almost looks as if it will fly away in the breeze.

the translation by the way makes sense...I may be anb artist and spend months on a piece..but I hate painting my walls and woodwork ...I've no patience!!

I surely hope that all these wonderful complementary comments are turning into actual orders?

that's a lovely proverb. very sound, as they say!

Very, very impressive. I think any kind of thing that one creates can be difficult to part with because of the time, inspiration and effort that goes into the process that its natural to get attached to certain pieces. Thats not to devalue the other pieces but there are always certain pieces that for whatever reason just ARE and that makes it hard to part with them.

I'm not sure what to make of my underachieving football team. There are positives but even as a supporter watching them you can see that the team is not quite there. Its out wide that the team is very odd. There are no regular full backs nor a permanent Left Winger or Right Winger and so the team lacks a cohesive style. Set pieces are absolutely rubbish when we attack, we have no true threat at corners or from free kicks in crossing areas other than Sami Hyypia.

I LOVE that neckpiece too! really gorgeous.

Niall: Thank you. If I feel this way about a scarf that I've worked on for a couple of days, I really can't imagine how you feel about your paintings!!

Chrispito: I'm going to miss you a LOT!! :( Take me with you.

FB: Thanks. That's true, some pieces are more special than others.
Do you think Rafa will go? The rotation probably didn't work that well.

Dharmabum: Thank you. MissAlister translated it for me: in the home of the blacksmith, wood skewer. See my previous comments for the explanation ;)
