I'm very anti-Art. I'm anti-a-lot-of-things. Namely, pseudo-art, pseudo-artists. That's why I wouldn't dare call myself an artist, I have too much respect for the real ones. And I also don't like Art Theories. Who cares about that? Picasso may have been a genious but until I find a painting of his that actually makes me feel something...I'll let him pass me by, happily and won't mind that I know nothing about him, except that he was a lunatic and apparently abused the women around him. (sigh)
I live in a town where degradation is very visible and people mostly ignore the beautiful things around them. Taking things for granted usually leads to degradation.
I live in a town where people run away from the rain - lol (I know that's obvious)But this rainfall was particularly smooth. It was fresh and it clearer the air.
You've seen these churches before, but did you notice the basketball-thingy...what's that called?
We come in peace. (This statue made me feel something, it's big and dark, and has wings)
Little doll houses by the river. Privilleged view.
Another basketball-thingy - you'd forget everyone plays football over here, not basketball. You may notice some of the houses are falling apart, while others look neat. I don't really know how to get to them. They look like a castle of cards.
Under that arch there's some sort of a tunnel-street. Where does it lead, I have no idea, but I didn't dare to find out.
Here you can see a Bar, the houses on the other side of the street and the street behind, and even me and my camera. I think this one is a winner.

great photos, and you are very sensitive -- in the sense that you use your senses to create and appreciate....so, YES, you're an artist.
p.s. can you open those doors to back lanes??? they are so cool...i totally want to walk through SO many doors like that.
PS: This is just the old part, it's more charming. The rest looks like any other city...

You mean that little tunnel? It has no door and I don't know where it leads, probably to more tiny houses.
I like the seventh one,with the more run-down houses. They have character. Are there streets back there?

the picture that looked like houses of cards reminds me some houses I used to see on my way to West Virginia.
Devil, there may be degradation in your city, but it is certainly a beautiful place to view in your photographs. I guess people always view their own home town through different eyes as outsiders do.

Eric: I think there have to be streets up there, otherwise people would have to get home by helicopter lol. But I'm not sure how to get there - not that I'm too interested in getting mugged up there (it could happen!)
Holychaos: I don't know how old these houses are but they must be very, very old :) Glad you liked them.
Meow: That's very true, or perhaps it's the other way around - people see cities they don't live in with different eyes - well, it's basically the same! ;)

It appears I have been absent for too long ..you are showing some wonderful photogrphs here!!!!!I especially like the 'Running in the rain'pic.
As for your comment about picasso..I find any credability as a human diminishes with the news that they abuse and use violence in their relationships. I have never connected with his work..but have this to say in his defence. picasso could (if you view his early work) produce very accurate and beautifully executed drawings and paintings...he was a technician in his art and chose a 'language' to express his ideas..(cubism).

Picasso was certainly innovative and creative and its work may astound millions but it doesn't say anything to me. That doesn't mean he's not good.
